Tandem Coffee Roasters Coffee Astrid Medina Gesha (GREEN)

We’ve been serving Astrid Medina’s coffees in our shops for years. Her coffees are perennial favorites of staff and customer alike. Astrid’s beautiful farm, Finca Buena Vista, has several varietals planted on it, and the ones we usually acquire are Caturra and Castillo. For years we’ve wanted to try her Gesha, to which she’s dedicated a small section of her farm, and this year is the first time we’ve been able to score it. We’re really excited to broaden and deepen our relationship with Astrid, and, of course, to offer you all some really amazing coffee. This Gesha takes the terroir of Colombia and turns it into Ethiopia, which is really something considering Astrid’s other varietals often remind us of flavor notes found in East African coffees. Gesha achieved its star status back in the mid-2000s in Panama, and its reputation along with its difficult-to-grow and disease-prone caveats make it a pricey coffee. And while this is admittedly an expensive offering for us, considering all things Gesha, it’s a pretty sick deal.
